Welcome to the South America! Arrive in Cartagena and check into our hotel, conveniently located within walking distance of local restaurants and points of interest.
Later that evening, we’ll gather for a Welcome Meet & Greet, giving you the opportunity to connect with fellow travelers and settle into the experience.
We’ll travel to San Basilio de Palenque, a historic town founded by formerly enslaved Africans and recognized as the first free Black town in the Americas.
During this immersive experience, you’ll learn about Afro-Colombian history, music, dance, customs, and traditions — including the cultural significance of hairstyles and drumming in the community’s journey to freedom.
This day offers depth, education, and connection to Cartagena’s African roots.
Enjoy a relaxed Beach Day exploring some of Cartagena’s most beautiful coastal areas.
This day is designed for rest, sunshine, and enjoyment — whether that means lounging by the water, or simply slowing down and enjoying the moment.

This day is intentionally left open for personal exploration, rest, or additional activities.
For those interested, an optional excursion will be available to El Totumo Mud Volcano, where you can enjoy a natural mud bath known for its skin-softening, mineral-rich properties — often referred to as The Fountain of Youth.
Participation in the optional excursion is not required. Can be purchased as an ADD-ON.
Enjoy breakfast and prepare for departure as we wrap up our Cartagena experience.

Failed Payments:
If a payment attempt fails, we will retry up to three times. After three unsuccessful attempts, your account will be marked as “in default.” Accounts that enter default status twice will incur a $50 reinstatement fee.
Late Payments:
If the final payment is not received by the due date specified on your invoice, a $150 late payment fee will be applied.
Specific 5 or 4-star hotel accommodations will be received within a couple weeks of the trip with our trip packages and details.
There is a monthly payment schedule until final payment.
All packages must be paid in full by January 10, 2025 or pay an additional $150 late fee per person. This event is on a first come first serve basis and may sell out before the actual date. (if you’re on the auto-payment plan, you have nothing to worry about!)
Yes, you can adjust your package if you want to add or subtract people or add additional days to your package. Any changes are subject to a $150 change fee.
All packages are non-refundable due to contractual obligations unless travel insurance is purchased. Travel Insurance is available for an additional cost per person. Refunds will not be provided due to a roommate’s cancellation. It is your responsibility to find a replacement for your package and provide replacement information via email. Airfare is not included, but you can find cheap flights by clicking here! You will be solely responsible to obtain your flight to and from Cartagena, Colombia. If you miss your flight, it is your responsibility to reach out to the hotel directly, and ABrown Planning to let us know that you are still arriving, or it will be assumed that you are forfeiting your room. ABrown Planning is not responsible for any changes in flights or cancellations. All deposits and payments are non-refundable due to hotel and transportation contractual obligations unless travel insurance is bought.
Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) is the only airport in Cartagena, Colombia. It serves as the main gateway for both domestic and international flights to and from the city, conveniently located just a few kilometers from the historic downtown area.

Breakfast will be included as well as all of the events, however, the hotel will not be all-inclusive.
Yes, and we will adjust your rate. You have until the deadline to make room changes.
If the roommate you selected cancels, your rate will adjust to the revised (single person) rate or you can replace them. Any cancellations within 60 days of the event are your responsibility, however, we will try our hardest to help you replace them. If ABrown Planning matched you with a roommate, and that roommate cancels, we would try to replace the individual, or we would take responsibility for the cost (your cost will NOT change.)
It is recommended that you get event insurance that protects against travel and weather issues.
A 5 or 4-star hotel. We provide details on the resort/hotel 45 days before the trip, or once we sell out.
Roommates must declare occupancy of single, double, triple or quadruple. If a roommate drops out and is not replaced, the rate will be revised to the proper occupancy or the roommate can be replaced.
